Success Stories

We look at acquiring any horse, be it one who has just retired or one that has fallen on hard times to be a success story in itself, as it shows a commitment from the horse’s owner and/or trainer to take their horse from an uncertain future to one that gives him purpose, thus securing for him a safe and useful life.

Not all horses will be suited to hacking, show jumping, eventing or dressage, but some may thrive to have a job as such after racing. The secret is finding out what the horse excels at and then structuring a re-homing programme to suit those needs.

Hopefully this attention to detail will ensure a forever home and we have a couple of examples to share with you of such success stories.

Leo

Last Three Minutes (Leo) arrived with us in May 2011. He came directly from Sir Michael Stoute’s yard (via Haydock Park) and arrived in very good condition.

Leo needed an experienced, fair and patient owner and we found him one in Lisa, an up and coming event rider, who now challenges him with new fences and differing exercises each day.

Musca

Musca arrived with us in December 2010 direct from a racing yard. He was very timid. With time, patience and a lot of love he is now a willing and safe ride. He is always eager to please and keen to learn new skills.

A hip problem we discovered following his arrival meant that we were unable to re-home him, however he is now trained in Equine Facilitated Learning exercises and he will soon be helping teach kids with behavioural, emotional and learning difficulties.

Fadansil

Fadansil (Dan) arrived with us in December 2010 after spending two years, since retiring from racing, in a field. He had appalling symptoms of neglect, was underweight and in need of TLC. ‘Dan’ is a real personality and is so grateful to be in a loving home. He rewards us everyday with his cheekiness and love of life.

Fadansil is already well versed in his role as Equine Facilitator, teaching kids and young people with specific needs in his own very special way. He is a truly exceptional horse with an intelligent human-like eye and understanding nature.
